I had a very interesting week this week. I had the opportunity to visit one of my clients this past Wednesday and be hypnotized!
I had a bad habit since I was a sophomore in high school of dipping tobacco. You know…Skoal, Copenhagen, etc. For the last 30 years (oh my gosh, has it really been that long!) I have put myself and my family at risk….and I was more than ready to do something about it. Oh I have tried several times to quit in the past. I was successful for about two years but decided to start a business and with all the new stress that that introduces fell back in the habit.
On Wednesday I flew to Jacksonville, FL to meet with a longtime client of mine who happens to be a clinical hypnotist as well. I joked with her about “fixing” me and she was willing to give it a try. I figured I had nothing to loose. I was really curious if I could be hypnotized. As it turned out, it was a wonderful experience. It seems the biggest obstacle is learning to relax. According to my wife, that is only the beginning of my problems, but that will be the subject of another blog…or twelve! In any case, my hypnotist was able to get me to relax to a point I have never experienced before. It was a unique sense of peace to the point where I was open to the suggestion of no longer requiring tobacco. It has only been two days, but I have to tell you, it has been amazing. There has been no withdrawal symptoms and no overpowering desire to indulge. Yesterday was the first morning that I have not had tobacco with my morning coffee since I can remember.
I would encourage everyone to explore the possibilities of hypnosis to address any issues you are working through. It is truly an amazing tool to unlock the subconscious.
