What can I expect from the recruiting process?

Whether you’re a practice or hospital looking for top talent, or a physician looking for a job change, the recruiting process is made much easier with the recruiter facilitating the change. A recruiter spends his or her day changing the lives of clients and candidates for the better – a tremendous responsibility. To ensure recruiters do their best each day, they follow a standard recruiting process.

When a recruiter helps a physician change jobs, he or she begins by carefully reviewing the physician’s CV, references and background information. The recruiter will interview the physician to better understand his or her goals and career plans, and to get to know the candidate. After gathering all the relevant information, the recruiter will begin the search for a job that is the best possible match with the physician’s requirements.

When a recruiter works with a client, whether a practice or hospital needing a physician, the recruiter documents all the necessary skills, experience, credentials, and job details. An interview with the client helps the recruiter understand the work environment and management style so that he or she finds a candidate with not only the professional skills to perform the job, but also find a candidate that will easily fit in and work with the company.

Once a match is identified, all of the recruiter’s facilitation and management skills come into play. He or she will present the candidate to the client, and then set up an interview if the client is interested. If the job requires travel or relocation, the recruiter can help with the arrangements. And once the interview is completed, the recruiter helps sort out issues, questions, and negotiations.

The recruiter’s job doesn’t end when the contract is signed and the start date is set. The best recruiters want to develop long-term relationships with clients and physicians, so they continue to follow up at set intervals to make sure the arrangement is satisfactory. Again, the recruiter becomes an agent for change if there are any problems with the placement. As an employment expert, the recruiter can provide answers to many workplace issues. And if both parties are satisfied, they might refer their top-notch recruiter to others who need their services!
